Project: Scee BHPIO MAC


INTRODUCTION

Boretech were contracted by SCEE to Drill and install power and communications conduits at BHPIO MAC.

SCOPE

The Scope of works was to install 3 x drill shots across the BHP Mining Area C Access Road in a complete self-perform scenario.
Drill shot one was installing 200 meters 200mm Orange Power conduit.
Drill shot two and three were 200m each of 110mm communications pipe.

GROUND CONDITIONS

Ground conditions encountered were an unconsolidated detrital iron ore formation.

CHALLENGES

Boretech’s crew encountered some challenging environmental conditions with temperatures reaching the mid 40 degrees and a cyclone event that needed to be prepared for, prior to flying out on break.
The Crew onsite were diligent in ensuring that they stayed hydrated and rotated tasks to give personnel a break during the day.
The Crew were also upskilled for the works with crew members receiving crane, water cart and telehandler training and VOC’s.

TEAM SUCCESS

Boretech’s Crew worked diligently to complete the works on time. They were able to accelerate the potholing and asset verification timeline.
The Crew worked with the SCEE supervision and BHP representative to allow for works in their vicinity to continue whilst the drilling was being performed.
The Crew also managed the pipe welding component of the works with the Boretech Team leader onsite, ensuring a safe and efficient process was followed.

DURATION

The works were completed over a 36-day period including Mobilization, Demobilization and a 7-day break.
