Project: Paraburdoo, Pilbara

INTRODUCTION

Boretech were contracted by a valued client to assist in the installation of communications conduits between Tom Price and Paraburdoo, with the specific request of Air Hammer HDD Methodology.

SCOPE

Our scope of works was initially 2 x drill shots to be drilled by way of Air Hammer HDD. Drill Shot one was 225m & Drill shot two was 198m.

A third drill shot was added to our scope once the Rig became available which was 170m.

EQUIPMENT

 BT 143 Vermeer 60×90 Drill

BT 52 Prime Mover with BT 04 trailer

BT 90 STG VAC TRUCK HDV8000

 Atlas Copco 500/1200 Compressor

GROUND CONDITIONS

High Strength Rock with Basalt/Granite & some sections of Shale.

CHALLENGES

One of the challenges was containing the cutting returns in the entry hole, this was done by means of blast boards and tarpaulins.

Shot 2 specifically had some vertical height changes starting from 20m above the creek line, an approved depth of 5m under the creek and a rise of 25m after the creek.

All sites had to be carefully set up due to the envelope allowed for works and specifically with a view for access for refuelling and access for Vac truck.

TEAM SUCCESS

Training 2 personnel in the operation of Air hammers and the associated works involved
being able to consistently perform with a high average meters per day.

Client feedback has been excellent for all involved in these works
being available to return to site for the third shot and completing efficiently.

DURATION

The initial works were over a 22 day period with a 7 day break (total of 15 days onsite) to align with the clients crew. The third shot duration was 8 days onsite.
