GROUND CONDITIONS

Ground conditions onsite were a mixture of solid Basalt and broken/weathered shales.

CHALLENGES

Boretech’s crew encountered some significant ground changes across the works.

• An Air Hammer was used to do the pilot and 1st pass ream to 8″.
• To complete the works the original methodology was modified from the initial plan to Push ream
using HDD Air hammer to 10″ .
• A rock roller reamer and Bentonite based muds were used to open the holes from 8″ to 10″ this gave
the crews the confidence in the hole cleaning to pull the pipe with no issues.

TEAM SUCCESS

Boretech’s crew onsite were able to complete the works well within the allocated timeline. This was
also the first time an Air Hammer push reaming bit was used by Boretech and the process was
efficiently used by the crew.

The Crew also Identified the need to use a Bentonite based mud ream with a 10″ rock roller in the
section of the hole that was Broken Basalt / shale.

DURATION

17 days onsite including site clean and pack up and 2 days Mobilisation/Demobilisation.
