INTRODUCTION
Boretech were engaged to carry out a high-profile job for a valued Client in John Forrest National Park, Perth.
SCOPE
Our scope was to carry out Specialised Air Hammer Drilling of 1 x 110mm Communications conduit for 1km along the heritage walkway trail at John Forrest National Park. Due to the existing duct not being fit for purpose, going through the old rail tunnel which was built in 1895 and on extremely sensitive and heritage land required an alternative route. A proposal was designed to go around the tunnel along the walkway trail.

GROUND CONDITIONS
Ground conditions were solid Granite throughout, with MPA Rock testing results coming in at 290MPA.
CHALLENGES
• In depth planning of 1 x year prior
• Starting in January with peak summer heat
• Fire ban restrictions due to heat causing multiple down days
• Aboriginal Heritage area
• Interface with Public pedestrians & cyclists along the trail
• Tight deadline
• Highly Abrasive ground causing excessive wear on GET (Ground Engaging Tooling)
• Bores requiring steering on each Rod to follow the S bend Route
• Making sure all personal were trained in Fire fighting and use of fire equipment in the event of an emergency due to fire
TEAM SUCCESS
• Boretech were very proud of the successful completion of this job, with the team coming in 2 weeks ahead of the deadline. This allowed the Fibre Optic Cable to be installed ahead of schedule.
• Zero LTIs throughout the duration of the project.
• Completing multiple Bores of over 200m with the longest Bore being 268m.
